The Nail Salon Safety Treasure Hunt

1. Introduction

To build a list of safe nail salons in cities across the United States, NailSalonSafety.com is hosting the Nail Salon Safety Treasure Hunt, a competition to find and photograph Steam Sterilizers owned by and in use by Nail Salons.

NailSalonSafety.com is an awareness campaign funded by Alfa Medical, Inc. The rules apply to all participants in the Nail Salon Safety Treasure Hunt. These rules may be updated during the course of the event, and all participants should monitor the event website, http://www.nailsalonsafety.com , for the latest information.

The rules may be modified at any time without notice. NailSalonSafety.com will communicate rule modifications on the event website. NailSalonSafety.com reserves the right to cancel this event at any time. The NailSalonSafety.com owners will be the final arbiter on all aspects of this event. Decisions of the NailSalonSafety.com owners are final.

Nothing in these rules, to include information on the event website, may be interpreted as authorizing the incurrence of any costs, or modifying any statement of work or authorizing work outside any terms and conditions of any existing agreements or contracts with NailSalonSafety.com, Alfa Medical, Inc, any nail salons, or any other parties.

2. Eligibility

The Nail Salon Safety Treasure Hunt is open to individuals of all ages irrespective of nationality or residency.
Entries may be submitted by individuals only, and only individuals are eligible to win the prize. Corporations or other organizations may not submit entries.

Participants under the age of 18 are required to obtain the consent of a parent or guardian before participating in this competition. Underage participants are cautioned that activities involved in participation including interacting with others on social networking sites require the supervision of a responsible adult.

NailSalonSafety.com reserves the right to disqualify a participant whose actions are deemed to violate the spirit of the competition for any reason, including but not limited to, the violation of laws or regulations in the course of participation.

3. Participation

The Nail Salon Safety Treasure Hunt event is held to build a list of safe nail salons across the United States.
The challenge is to locate and photograph steam sterilizers at nail salons across the country; steam sterilizers that are in use by and owned by the nail salon where the photo is taken.

By submitting an entry, a participant gives permission for his or her photograph and any information submitted about the nail salon to be owned to the fullest extent applicable under law by NailSalonSterilizers.com in the event that the participant is a winning entrant. By submitting an entry, the participant asserts that he or she has the rights to submit the photograph and that information is accurate and valid. NailSalonSterilizers.com claims no rights to intellectual property developed as a result of participation in this event.

NailSalonSterilizers.com may contact individuals to discuss the means and methods used in solving the challenge. All correspondence regarding this event should be directed to treasurehunt@nailsalonsterilizers.com.

4. Prizes

For each nail salon, a single $10 Starbucks Gift Card will be awarded: to the first participant to submit a valid photo of a steam sterilizer owned and in use by that nail salon. For each nail salon, a maximum of $10 Starbucks Gift Card will be awarded in aggregate total. No prize for second place will be awarded.

The exception is: For nail salons that only have UV sterilizers, a single $10 Starbucks Gift Card will be awarded: to the first participant to submit a valid photo of a UV sterilizer owned and in use by that nail salon, for every five (5) UV sterilizer photos from different nail salons submitted by that participant.

(For prizes in this competition, Steam sterilizers count for five times as much as UV sterilizers.)

Entries are accepted until the deadline at the end of this month. At the start of the following month, the event may be renewed. NailSalonSafety.com will issue the Starbucks gift card to the name and mailing address specified by the individual registered on the event website (the entrant). The mailing address need not belong to the entrant, and may belong to an employer or other organization. If the account belongs to an individual, the individual may not be ineligible to participate as an entrant in the event for any reason.

The prize may be used by entrants for any legal purpose.

Gift cards will be handled in accordance with Starbucks guidelines. Tax treatment of prizes will be handled in accordance with U.S. Internal Revenue Service guidelines. Entrants should consult a tax advisor to ensure that winnings are handled properly and reported accurately for tax purposes.


The NailSalonSafety.com team may use anonymous, aggregated collected information (restricted in any case to username, e-mail, IP address, location submissions) to perform scientific analysis and research, and may present it in publications and/or talks. No personal or identifiable information will be used, released or presented in any case.

If for any reason the challenge is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of the challenge, we reserve the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the challenge, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the challenge. The NailSalonSafety.com Team assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. The NailSalonSafety.com Team is not responsible for problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers computer equipment, software, failure of any email to be received by The NailSalonSafety.com Team on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any The NailSalonSafety.com Team site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this challenge.

By participating in the challenge, each participant agrees to release and hold The NailSalonSafety.com Team harmless from any and all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind in connection with or resulting from participation in the challenge and/or acceptance, possession, or use of any prize(s) including, without limitation personal injuries, death, property damages and any claims by third parties or otherwise based on publicity rights, defamation, or invasion of privacy. Entrants acknowledge that The NailSalonSafety.com Team is not responsible or liable for any warranty, representation, or guarantee, express or implied, in fact or in law, relative to any Prize.
